چکیده

There has been increased interest recently in feedback methods for reliable , robust, eecient computational methods in mechanics. We will outline the construction of such methods for a class of problems describing bending of plates for certain classes of loads. We emphasize the theoretical performance of this method, such as the selection of basis functions in the dimensional reduction { ensuring optimal convergence rates in the \thin" limit as well as in the order of model increasing. We then discuss the feasibility of eecient solution of the rst couple of members of the sequence of models { also with an eye towards reliability and adaptivity.

Nonlinear stability of the ensemble Kalman filter with adaptive covariance inflation

The Ensemble Kalman filter and Ensemble square root filters are data assimilation methods used to combine high dimensional nonlinear models with observed data. These methods have proved to be indispensable tools in science and engineering as they allow computationally cheap, low dimensional ensemble state approximation for extremely high dimensional turbulent forecast models. From a theoretical...

Adaptive population divergence in cryptic color-pattern following a reduction in gene flow.

Adaptive population divergence is often driven by divergent natural selection, but can be constrained by the homogenizing effect of gene flow between populations. Indeed, a common pattern in nature is an inverse correlation between the degree of adaptive phenotypic divergence between populations and levels of gene flow between populations. However, there is essentially no experimental data on w...

Convergence and Optimality of Adaptive Methods in the Finite Element Exterior Calculus Framework

Finite Element Exterior Calculus (FEEC) was developed by Arnold, Falk, Winther and others over the last decade to exploit the observation that mixed variational problems can be posed on a Hilbert Complex, and Galerkin-type mixed methods can then be obtained by solving finite-dimensional subcomplex problems. Stability and consistency of the resulting methods then follow directly from the framewo...

Image Restoration with Two-Dimensional Adaptive Filter Algorithms

Two-dimensional (TD) adaptive filtering is a technique that can be applied to many image, and signal processing applications. This paper extends the one-dimensional adaptive filter algorithms to TD structures and the novel TD adaptive filters are established. Based on this extension, the TD variable step-size normalized least mean squares (TD-VSS-NLMS), the TD-VSS affine projection algorithms (...

Adaptive Unscented Kalman Filter for Target Tracking in the Presence of Nonlinear Systems Involving Model Mismatches

In order to improve filtering precision and restrain divergence caused by sensor faults or model mismatches for target tracking, a new adaptive unscented Kalman filter (N-AUKF) algorithm is proposed. First of all, the unscented Kalman filter (UKF) problem to be solved for systems involving model mismatches is described, after that, the necessary and sufficient condition with third order accurac...
